Most vehicle catalysts have a ceramic carrier. The honeycomb monolith is coated with "washcoat" in which the catalytically active precious metals platinum, rhodium, and palladium are embedded. For precise value determination, these valuable materials must be extracted as far as possible without residue.
The delivered catalysts are cut, ground and homogenized. To avoid losses, the extracted dust is fed back into the process. From the finely powdered monoliths, we take representative samples from which we determine the noble metal content in the in-house laboratory.
